Terrain, waters and landscape

Landscape

The Tuzla Southern Coastal Plain is a coastal plain formed over thousands of years by the tidal and wave movements of the Marmara Sea and silt carried by streams. This flat terrain on which Tuzla center sits has been used for olive cultivation and viticulture due to its fertile soil. Its geological span can be observed on the Map; it represents the southern plains of İstanbul morphology.

The elevation of the coastal plain varies between 0 and 20 meters above sea level. This low-altitude plain structure causes the groundwater level in the region to be high near the shoreline.
