Terrain
The Tuzla Northern Plateau Ridges present a plateau topography flattened by erosion, situated at an average altitude of 100-150 meters above sea level. This hard-ground geological structure contrasting with the southern coastline of Tuzla divides the water basins of the region. Morphological borders of the plateau can be accessed via the Map; it determines the eastern border character of İstanbul.
Dating back to the Miocene epoch, this plateau surface consists of hard limestone and marl layers. Small streams flowing from north to south have dissected this plateau surface with shallow valleys.
