Cendere Dessert is a deeply rooted flavor of Usak shaped by rolling thin dough, similar to baklava yufka, onto a rolling pin and wrinkling it from both ends. Generous amounts of local walnuts are added inside. This regional example of Türkiye's rich dessert culture is among the favorites of dessert lovers due to its lightness and crispiness.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of milk and vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of ground walnuts
  • For syrup: 3 cups of sugar and water

Preparation

  1. Knead a smooth dough using flour, egg, milk, and vegetable oil.
  2. Divide the dough into balls and roll them out very thinly using starch.
  3. Sprinkle walnuts over the dough sheet, roll it onto a rolling pin, wrinkle it from both sides toward the center, and slide it off.
  4. Arrange on a baking tray, pour melted butter over it, bake until golden, then pour warm syrup over it.
