Cuisine

A staple of traditional Ulus tables, Pumpum Soup takes its name from the sound it makes while cooking. Made by grinding corn grown in the Bartın region into flour, this soup is served with hot melted butter and croutons poured over it. You can check the central restaurants in the Map section to experience this flavor in the district.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of corn flour
  • 5 cups of water or meat broth
  • 100 grams of minced meat or pastrami
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper powder and salt

  1. Whisk the corn flour with cold water or meat broth in a pot until smooth.
  2. Place the pot on the stove and cook while stirring constantly until it boils.
  3. In a separate pan, sauté the minced meat or pastrami with butter.
  4. Add the sautéed meat to the soup, add salt, simmer for 5 more minutes on low heat, and serve hot.
