One of the oldest traditional soups of Düziçi cuisine, Togga is a nutritious dish made with wheat and yogurt. It is frequently served during holidays in the Osmaniye region.

Accepted as a registered local taste, Togga soup is consumed hot in winter and cold in summer in Düziçi homes. The most important feature of the soup is the sauce made with fresh mint and local butter. It is possible to find this dish, well-known across Osmaniye, in local restaurants shown on the map.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of ashura wheat
  • 1 cup of boiled chickpeas
  • 500 grams of strained yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • Fresh mint and butter (for topping)

Preparation

  1. Soak the wheat overnight and boil it in plenty of water until soft.
  2. Whisk yogurt, flour, and egg in a large pot until smooth.
  3. Add the boiled wheat and chickpeas to the yogurt mixture and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  4. After boiling, cook over low heat until it reaches the desired consistency.
  5. Pour fresh mint sizzled in butter over it and serve hot or cold.
