Cuisine
Although landlocked, this soup is made with fresh fish brought daily from coastal areas of the island to São Salvador do Mundo markets. This flavor, offered in local eateries on the Map, is simmered with cassava, sweet potatoes, and green bananas.
The broth of the soup can be thickened with corn flour or xerém. Across Cabo Verde, it is common to consume it as a starter or main dish during family meals, especially on Sundays.
Ingredients
- 500g fresh white fish (sliced)
- 2 potatoes and 1 cassava root
- 1 green banana
- 1 tomato and onion

- Add cubed potatoes, cassava, and green banana, and cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Finally, add the marinated fish and coriander, and simmer for another 10-15 minutes without breaking the fish.
