Cuisine

Since Güngören is a district in Istanbul where Rumelian and Balkan immigrants are densely populated, this dessert has become a cultural symbol of the region. Known for its crispy dough and thick syrup, it is crispier than the standard tulumba found throughout Turkey.

Produced especially in traditional dessert shops in Haznedar and Merkez neighborhoods, this flavor is the first choice of the local people on holidays and special days. While wandering the streets of Güngören, you can find it freshly made in artisan shops marked in the Map section.
