Karabük Culture, Karabük

The culture of Karabük is a unique blend of traditional Ottoman civic life preserved in the Safranbolu Old Town and the modern industrial heritage introduced during the Republican era. Traditional crafts, especially blacksmithing and coppersmithing, remain vibrant within the historic guilds of the Safranbolu Old Town. Etnographic artifacts, traditional costumes, and ancient craft tools reflecting the rich history of the city are exhibited at the Safranbolu City History Museum.

Local cuisine is a core expression of the lifestyle in Karabük. The culinary culture is shaped by delicacies such as Safranbolu Bükmesi (a local pastry with meat and spinach), Peruhi (a local dumpling filled with strained yogurt), the world-famous Safranbolu Turkish Delight, and the traditional Walnut Halva. The deep-rooted outdoor culture of the locals thrives during the seasonal festivals held at the Sarıçiçek Plateau and gathering events at the Çamlık Nature Park Picnic Area.
