Panforte is a deeply traditional confection firmly rooted in the heritage of Siena. Crafted with honey, almonds, candied fruits, and a distinct spice blend, it remains an iconic sweet throughout Italia.

Ingredients

  • 150g almonds
  • 150g candied orange peel
  • 100g flour
  • 150g honey
  • 1 tbsp Panforte spice mix (cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg)

Preparation

  1. Lightly toast the almonds and mix them with the candied fruit, flour, and spices.
  2. Melt the honey and sugar in a saucepan until it forms a smooth syrup.
  3. Pour the hot syrup over the dry ingredients and mix rapidly to combine.
  4. Press the mixture into a lined pan, bake at 150°C for 30 minutes, and dust with powdered sugar.
