Geographical Structure and Natural Beauties
The district territory is covered with high peaks such as Maden Mountain and the steep valleys surrounding it. Being highly rich in water resources, the region features the Cevizlik Stream and Neron Stream flowing through deep valleys. The Şirvan Dam Lake, fed by these streams, provides hydroelectric power generation, while the surrounding Şirvan Oak Forests add a green texture to the district. For adventure enthusiasts, the Kiror Valley Canyon offers unique landscapes, whereas the Kormas Plain situated in flatter areas forms the center of agricultural production. In the summer months, the Şirvan Plateau, known for its cool air, holds great importance for livestock activities.
History and Cultural Heritage
Throughout its deep-rooted history, Şirvan has been a strategic defense point. The majestic Kufra Castle reflecting the defensive history of the district and the İncekaya (Kormas) Castle rising on a hill dominating the region bear the architectural traces of past civilizations. Furthermore, the Historical Şirvan Copper Mine Ruins, which indicate that the region has been a mining center since ancient times, are among the elements enriching the cultural heritage. The Şirvan Stream Picnic Area, a relaxation spot for local people, is an important part of social life.
