Overview
Polateli is a district of historical and agricultural importance attached to the city of Kilis in Türkiye. The geographical structure of the district is shaped by the Polateli Plateau Flats and the rugged Polateli Hills. Daily life of the local people largely depends on olive cultivation and viticulture activities carried out on the Polateli Agricultural Plain.
Prominent Geographical and Historical Structures
The most important historical symbol of the district is the Ravanda Castle, located on the protected Ravanda Mountain Foothills. In terms of water resources and ecosystem in the region, the Afrin Stream (Polateli Basin) and Söğütlu Stream play a vital role. The surroundings of Polateli Şahinbey Polat Pond, which is used for agricultural irrigation, form the green texture of the region together with the Polateli Oak Lands. In addition, Belenözü Village Historical Water Cistern and Polateli Grand Mosque Ruins carry the architectural traces of past periods to the present day.

In its rich culinary culture, Kilis Tava and Oruk Kebab are indispensable flavors of evening meals.
