Overview
Kurtalan is a historically and geographically strategic district of Siirt province, located in the Southeastern Anatolia region of Türkiye. The Garzan River, which forms the lifeblood of the district, and the Kurtalan Plain, the center of agricultural production, determine the basis of life and settlement in the region. Among the indispensable parts of daily life and local cuisine are unique delicacies such as traditional Kurtalan Perde Pilav and Kurtalan Kitel.

While the geographical structure of the district is shaped by the Reson Stream and its surrounding wetlands, the Kurtalan Oak Groves and Teylan Plateau stand out for nature walks. The Erzen Archaeological Site, the Erzen Ancient City Ruins, and Çayırlı Höyük, which shed light on the deep-rooted history of the region, are of great importance for archeology enthusiasts. The modern symbol of the district is the Kurtalan Express Final Station building, which is the symbol of railway transportation. In social life, Teylan Picnic Area, frequently visited by local people, is a cultural meeting point. Other important elements of the rich culinary culture are known as Kurtalan Büryan Kebab and Kurtalan Rayoşu served as a dessert.
