Timeline, heritage and stories

Heritage

Myrleia Ancient City was founded by colonists from Ionia. Later renamed Apameia, it became an important port city during the Roman period. Mosaics and defensive walls that highlight the maritime trade history of the Bursa region have been identified here. A portion of the ancient city is protected as an archaeological site.

The artifacts uncovered during archaeological works are cataloged by Türkiye's cultural heritage institutions. Since parts of the ancient city lie under modern structures in Mudanya, visitors should utilize the local Map to locate the preserved ruins.
