Timeline, heritage and stories

Heritage

Built over the stream beds in the area formerly known as Sultanciftligi, this structure is one of the architectural witnesses of Çekmeköy's local history. Reflecting classical Ottoman stonemasonry with its stone architecture, the bridge was used in ancient times as part of military and logistic transit routes on the periphery of Istanbul. Today, efforts are being made to register it in the inventory of cultural heritage in Turkey.

The surviving arch sections of the bridge reveal the engineering techniques of the period. This structure, integrated with its surrounding natural texture, is one of the stops on historical tours. You can refer to the Map tab for the bridge's location.
