Heritage
The Yukarı Mahalle Houses consist of around 150 registered structures displaying Ottoman period architectural traits. Reflecting the local culture of Akçakoca, these houses are generally two stories high and built using traditional timber-framing techniques. Within scope of tourism-oriented conservation projects in Türkiye, street rehabilitation works have been applied here. Today, local markets and boutique cafes open in the neighborhood keep the historic atmosphere alive.
