Timeline, heritage and stories

Heritage

The Historic Hemşin Mosque was built in the 19th century during the Ottoman era using entirely wooden materials on stone foundations without nails. It perfectly reflects the traditional rural architecture of Akçakoca. Registered among cultural assets in Türkiye, the lower floor of this two-story building serves as a stone base, while the upper floor acts as the main prayer hall. Original wooden decorations and the mihrab are preserved inside.
