Landscape
The section of the Duzce Plain covering the Merkez district is a tectonic depression area covered with fertile soil carried by rivers descending from surrounding mountains. The plain is the main center of corn, hazelnut, and grain production in the region. Thanks to its flat morphology, it has contributed greatly to the development of transportation networks.
This plain, which was a lake bed in past geological periods, is currently evaluated among the important agricultural heritage sites across Türkiye.
