Bayburt Castle

Rising on a hill overlooking the city center of Bayburt, this historic castle is one of the most magnificent defensive structures within Türkiye.

Bayburt Castle is the most important historical symbol of the city, strategically located by the Çoruh River. Although its exact construction date is unknown, it underwent extensive renovations during the Roman, Byzantine, and Seljuk periods.

Also known as 'Chinimachin Castle' due to the tile decorations on its walls, it is a significant part of the cultural heritage of Türkiye. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city from the castle ramparts.
