About

Sugla Lake, a large part of which was within the boundaries of Seydişehir in the past, continues to exist today as a controlled irrigation basin and wetland. It is one of the most important freshwater collection centers south of Konya.

Waters

Sugla Lake was a natural lake that occasionally drained its waters underground due to its karstic structure. With modern engineering works, the lake bed was reorganized for the irrigation of Seydişehir and surrounding plains. You can check the Harita panel to see the current water storage area.

The basin expands with the melting snow in spring and forms an important ecological observation point for birdwatchers across Konya.
