Heritage
The Norman-Swabian Castle of Vibo Valentia is a magnificent example of medieval military architecture. Begun by the Normans in the 11th century and later expanded during the reign of Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II, the castle was established in a strategic location to overlook the city and the port.
Today, its walls, towers, and inner courtyard are largely preserved, making it an indispensable stop for tourists wishing to understand local history and capture great photographs. The fortress was also an important part of the defense lines of Italia in the past.
