Terrain
Monte Verde (Green Mountain) is located on the island of São Vicente in Cabo Verde and is the highest peak of the island at 750 meters. Contrary to the arid structure of the rest of the island, the upper parts of this mountain are humid due to ocean mists, creating the green vegetation that gives it its name.
The mountain has been declared a natural park and shelters many endemic plant species unique to the island. A trek along the road leading to the summit offers a mesmerizing view of the city of Mindelo, Porto Grande Harbor, and on clear days, the neighboring island of Santo Antão.
