Timeline, heritage and stories

Heritage

Founded in 764, Lorsch Abbey stood as one of the preeminent religious and cultural powerhouses of the early Middle Ages in Hessen. The famous Gatehouse or 'King's Hall' (Königshalle) is one of the very few Carolingian monuments intact today. It remains one of the earliest designated UNESCO sites in Deutschland.

Tourists can wander through the monastic herb garden and discover its geographic coordination using the local Harita tool.
