Timeline, heritage and stories
Built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian between 553 and 561 AD, this historical bridge is considered among the most important ancient heritages within Sakarya. The massive stone structure, approximately 365 meters long, had a strategic importance connecting the historical trade routes of the region. Today, it is one of the focal points of Sakarya cultural tourism and is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
