Timeline, heritage and stories

Heritage

Located within the borders of Şimşirlik village, this historical mosque demonstrates the engineering skills of Kaynaşlı local culture in past centuries. In its construction, completely wooden planks were interlocked and assembled without using any nails. To learn its exact location, the Harita on the page can be examined.

The mosque reflects the traditional Black Sea forest village architectural style remaining from the Ottoman period. Today, this structure, which is registered under the Cultural Properties of Türkiye, attracts local tourists and architectural historians. The centuries-old trees around it also symbolize the power of Düzce nature.
