Timeline, heritage and stories

History

Esenyurt, located in the west of Istanbul in Turkey, has an old settlement tissue founded at the beginning of the 19th century. In early records, the area was known for its vast pastures and farmland. The presence of water resources has been the main driver of life here, especially the Haramidere (Esenyurt Kolu) stream, which played a crucial role in bringing agricultural activities to the area throughout history.

The Republican Era and Urban Evolution

Following the foundation of the Republic, the demographic structure of the region was shaped by immigration from the Balkans, maintaining a quiet village character for many years. The Esenyurt Old Thermal Spring Historic Site displays the deep-rooted relationship of the region with healing waters. Today, as a continuation of this heritage, the Esenyurt Thermal Natural Spring Pool serves the community. Historical documents and local heritage artifacts are preserved and displayed inside the Esenyurt Cultural Center.

The geographical boundaries of historical settlements were largely defined by the Esenyurt Kadıoğlu Tepesi Konturları and the surrounding plains. For detailed geographical positions, the Harita section can be analyzed.
