Overview
Sason, a district of Batman province located in southeastern Türkiye, is an ancient settlement hidden among rugged mountains. Established at the foot of Mount Mereto, one of the highest peaks in the region, the district draws attention with its rich vegetation and rivers. This natural structure provided by geography has enabled the emergence of agricultural values such as the famous Sason Honey and Sason Strawberry, whose production has increased rapidly in recent years, forming the basis of the local economy and daily life.
Nature and Geographical Structure of Sason
The physical structure of the district is shaped by deep valleys and high mountain ranges. Giving life to the region, the Sason Stream and its tributary Zorik Stream carve the land into deep canyons, offering unique landscapes. The Sason Oak Forests, developing around these wetlands, create a sheltered area for wildlife and outdoor sports. Reviving in spring after harsh winter conditions, Purşeng Plateau is one of the most important high-altitude spots where traditional animal husbandry activities are maintained.
