History

The history of Evciler district is based on the traces of settlement in the region since ancient times. Surface surveys conducted around Kocabas Mound located within the district boundaries show that the region has a chronological settlement history dating back to the Early Bronze Age. These ancient settlements were among the important agricultural centers in the south of Afyonkarahisar due to their fertile lands.

Another important archaeological area in the region, Okuzbatan Mound, proves that settlements continued during the Phrygian and Roman periods. These areas, included in the archaeological map of Turkiye, shed light on the deep-rooted history of the district. Turkmen tribes settling in the region during the Ottoman Empire period laid the foundation of today's settlement pattern. The ethnographic artifacts exhibited in the Evciler Culture House in the district center bring the lifestyle and cultural heritage of this period to the present day.

Having maintained its existence as a village and town connected to the Dinar district for a long time during the Republican period, the settlement gained district status with a law enacted in 1990. For detailed location information, you can check the Map section.
